Regular professional cleanings are the single best investment you can make in your long-term oral health. At Crystal Dental our hygienists take the time to do it right — gentle, thorough, and tailored to your gum health.
What is included in a cleaning visit
- Comprehensive oral exam and periodontal screening
- Scaling above and below the gumline to remove plaque and tartar
- Professional polishing and fluoride treatment
- Personalized advice on brushing, flossing, and products
- Low-dose digital x-rays as needed for early detection
How often should you come in?
Most adults benefit from a hygiene visit every 6 months. If you have gum disease, diabetes, or are prone to cavities, we may recommend 3- or 4-month intervals. We’ll build the schedule that fits your mouth — not a one-size-fits-all rule.
Frequently asked questions
Does a cleaning hurt?
For most patients it's completely painless. If your gums are inflamed we'll take extra care and offer topical anesthetic if needed. We'll always check in throughout.
How long does a cleaning take?
Plan on 45–60 minutes for a typical adult hygiene visit. First visits are longer (around 90 minutes) to include a full exam and x-rays.
Do you direct-bill my insurance?
Yes — we direct-bill most major Canadian dental insurance plans. Bring your benefits card on your first visit.
Can I book a cleaning without seeing a dentist?
Absolutely. Many of our patients book hygiene-only visits. If we notice anything during the cleaning we'll let you know and you can decide what to do from there.
